Standard wallpaper panels come in fixed widths — usually 20.5" or 27" wide. To cover a 144" wall (12 feet), you'd need multiple rolls, and if the wall doesn't divide evenly by the panel width, you're buying extra material you can't use. Those off-cuts go in the trash.

Textured walls — the honest answer

Most US homes have textured walls — orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel. Peel and stick wallpaper needs a smooth, flat surface to adhere properly. On textured walls, the adhesive can only contact the peaks — leaving the valleys unbonded, which causes lifting and edge failure.

Three full coats of a self-adhesive prep primer are essential before applying peel and stick wallpaper.
