Artist Feature: Katherine Spiller

Katherine Spiller is a Queensland-based artist with a background in Fine Arts and Art History. Her work focuses on the use of color to create depth and movement, inspired by her surroundings - from family to ocean views on the Sunshine Coast. With experience in international art galleries and curation, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her craft.

Katherine Spiller

Katherine is a Queensland based artist who trained in Fine Arts and Art History at Elam School of Fine Arts and Auckland University and Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London. Following this Katherine managed art galleries in the UK and New Zealand before moving to Sydney to work for Sculpture by the Sea in Sydney and Perth, which included curation of the indoor sculpture show.

Katherine’s works explore the play of colour as she builds layers of marks to create depth and movement. Her inspiration comes from her immediate environment, from the joyful chaos of family life to the calming light flickering on the ocean waters of Australia’s Sunshine Coast.
